The Minister of State Treasury of the Republic of Poland contributes shares of Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze Nr 1 S.A. to Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A. (PGZ).
Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze Nr 1 S.A. (Military Aviation Works – WZL1) is one of the leading aerospace companies in Europe and one of the key subsidiaries of Polish Armaments Group (PGZ).
Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze No. 1 S.A. (WZL-1) is one of the leading companies within Poland’s defence and aerospace industry. As a key member of the Polish Armaments Group (Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A. – PGZ), WZL-1 operates facilities in Łódź and Dęblin. For more than 80 years, the company has specialized in the maintenance, repair, overhaul, modernization, and servicing of aircraft and related systems for the Polish Armed Forces as well as international customers.
In recent months, WZL-1 has further strengthened its position in the defence sector through the signing of strategic agreements associated with Poland’s acquisition programs for AH-64E Apache attack helicopters and M1A1/M1A2 Abrams main battle tanks. In addition, the company is involved in the production of launch canisters for PAC-3 MSE missiles and provides maintenance and support services for Poland’s fleet of M-346 Master advanced jet trainers.
A strong emphasis on R&D including development of the company’s infrastructure and continuous improvement of the processes enables permanent extending of the company’s scope of business.
The implementation of executive offset agreements facilitates the transfer of advanced technologies to Poland through the establishment at WZL-1’s Łódź facility of an Industrial Service Center for AH-64E Apache helicopters and General Electric T700/CT7 family engines. This capability will significantly enhance the operational readiness of the Polish Armed Forces’ modern helicopter fleet.
At the company’s Dęblin facility, the third authorized AGT1500 engine service center in the world – and the only one in Europe – is currently being established. This center will provide maintenance and support for the AGT1500 engines powering M1A1 and M1A2 Abrams tanks.
Through ongoing investments and newly secured contracts, WZL-1 is evolving into one of Europe’s key centers for the maintenance and support of advanced helicopters and turboshaft engines. The acquisition of cutting-edge technologies and the continuous development of specialized expertise are strengthening the capabilities of Poland’s defence industry, enhancing national security, and creating new employment opportunities for highly qualified professionals.
